Training on Women In Panchayathraj Institution – 17th & 18th January, 2018

On 17th & 18th January 2018 KROSS conducted a training on Women in Panchayathraj Institution in which 50 participants from all over the state of Karnataka participated.

Mr. Varghese, Advocate in his keynote address put into perspective the 73rd Constitutional Amendment Act 1992 and the space & enabling environment created for the women in local self-governance with 1/3rd reservation which was enhanced to 50% from May 2015 whereby a larger group of women could participate and contest in local body elections.

Mr Maruthi Naik from Honnavar and Mr Saver Fernandes from Karwar who facilitated the two days training used simple and innovative methods by way of quiz, plays, games, group discussions and interactive sessions to drive home the point of the need for motivating the women to contest and provide them support and guidance.

Sr. Zita D’souza, Chief Coordinator, KROSS welcomed the participants, Mr. Sridhar Naik, KDDC, Karwar and Ms Santhoshamma, BDDS, Ballari moderated the two days session. Mr. Chikkadoddaiah, ODP, Mysuru proposed the vote of thanks.
