Support to Training & Employment Programme (Step)

A Review Meeting of STEP for Women was held at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore on October 14, 2014. Ms Joyce Periera, STEP Program Officer and the four District Coordinators of Bangalore, Chitradurga, Hassan & Mysore were present along with the Monitoring Committee Members, Mr. R.M. Pandey, Senior Technical Officer, IIHR and Mr. Susainathan, Retd. KAS (Food & Civil Supplies Officer) who were all welcomed by Mr. G. M. Varghese, KROSS.

District wise quarterly progress reports were presented and it was reported that the production of vegetables is in process and small scale marketing too has commenced. The major constraint was in Registration of Cooperatives as different statements were coming from the taluk registrars. After discussion the Monitoring Committee Members suggested that a delegation should meet the Deputy Registrar at District level and find out the procedures to register the Cooperatives and convince them that the project is meant for marginalized women and they are not in a position to pay a huge sum of money for share amount.

The Monitoring Committee Members also said that we have to build a rapport with the Horticulture, Agriculture and related departments to avail the benefits and also for collaboration as this will help in making the project a success.

An action plan was drawn for the three months which was facilitated by Mr. G. M. Varghese, KROSS. The meeting concluded at 4.00 p.m. with a vote of thanks by Ms. Joyce Periera.
