Distribution of Free Library Books

India has got its independence in 1947 but still today we are unable to enrol all our children into schools and the institutions run by the Government does not have the infrastructure to kindle the mind of the child to experiment and learn. The endeavour of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in distributing books is laudable as there are many little ways to enlarge the child’s world and the love of books is the best of all said Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore in his presidential address in the free distribution of books to 103 School Libraries worth Rs.60 lakhs organized jointly by Karnataka Region Commission for Education (KRCE) & Karnataka Regional Organization for Social Service (KROSS) in conjunction with CII and the Asia Foundation.

Mr. Rajendra, Corporator, BBMP in his speech said it would be laudable that NGOs & CII are coming together to make a change in the lives of the children by providing quality education. He called for additional infrastructure support for sanitation, drinking water, school furniture, etc.

The other dignitaries present were Rev. Fr. Peter Brank, Director, KROSS, Mr. George, representative of CII and Dr. Eugene J. Lobo, Secretary, KRCE.

Dr. Eugene J. Lobo welcomed the gathering, Fr. Valerian Sequeira compered the programme and Mr. George proposed the vote of thanks.
