Support To Training & Employment Programme (STEP)

A review of the program, Support to Training & Employment to Women supported by the Ministry of Women & Child Dev elopement, Government of India was held at KROSS Resource Centre on 20.04.2015, to evaluate the progress and outcome of the Vegetable Cultivation Project being implemented in the Districts of Bangalore, Chitradurga, Hassan & Mysore. Mrs. Joyce Pereira welcomed the Monitoring Committee Members, Mr. R. M. Pandy, Senior Technical Officer, IIHR, Mr. Susainathan, Retd. KAS (Food & Civil Supplies Officer) Director & Asst. Director, KROSS and the field coordinators.

The field staff of each district presented their quarterly reports and it was encouraging to note that seven cooperatives have been registered at Hosadurga, three at Hassan with benefits under the Priyadarshini Scheme, five at Mysore and in Kolar process of registration of five cooperatives is under way.

The Monitoring Committee members suggested to prepare a consolidated statement which at a glance should give the entire picture of production, sale, income & expenditure and profits. They also observed that the progress of the project is good and beneficial to the poor women which has to be documented properly and presented to the Government so that more such schemes can be availed from the Government. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Asst. Director, KROSS remarked that though there have been so many trainings we fail to measure the results due to which we are not able to present in a nutshell the outcome of our efforts. He assisted in preparing the action plan for the next quarter and hoped the inputs would be provided as required.
