Workshop on Federation Bye - Laws

Formation of Self Help Groups was a watershed moment in our country as it was realized that women’s emancipation & empowerment could begin by taking up women centric issues, lobby and advocacy for women’s rights and networking through cluster level, taluk level and district level federations. But somewhere along the road, a different path was tread giving importance to economic development and forgetting all about women’s rights & equity. We need to reflect now what are the changes that have to be brought into the federation bye-laws so that the process which was derailed is put back on track said Rev. Fr. Peter Brank, Director, KROSS in his keynote address to the participants.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes who welcomed the Resource Person and the participants interacted with the participants on both the days, i.e., 20th & 21st April, 2015 and prepared an action plan and asked all the participants to field test the addition to the bye-laws which have now emerged and come out with a document showing which of the additions could be followed by them and which they could not. He said that this exercise should be completed by end of June and in July 2015 we could have a follow up workshop to finalize the bye-laws for each of the DSSSs as per their needs.

Rev. Fr. Veeresh Moras, Director, SMSSS, Shimoga facilitated the two days’ workshop which helped in coming out with a final set of bye-laws.

Mr. Harischandra, KDDC proposed the vote of thanks and Mr. Clement Fernandes, KROSS moderated the workshop.
