Training On Right to Livelihood & Employment 16th June, 2015.

A Zonal Level Training on “Right to Livelihood & Employment” was conducted by KROSS at Mandya on 16th June, 2015 which was organized by JVSSS, Mandya.

The right to livelihood is enshrined in our Constitution and the rural poor should make full use of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act which not only empowers rural women but reduces rural-urban migration said Rev. Fr. Paul, Chancellor of the Diocese of Mandya who inaugurated the program.

The Livelihood implies that sufficient food is available, people have the means to access it and are able to feed themselves with dignity, are free from hunger, food insecurity, malnutrition and for this we have to make the rural poor register under MGNREGA so that they are assured of guaranteed wages for 100 days in a year said Fr. Kuriakose Kunnath, Director, JVSS, Mandya in his address.

The training was facilitated by Advocate G. M. Varghese who explained to the participants who had come from various talukas how this Act came into force and why they need to get themselves registered, seek job cards and get gainfully employed which not only helps them in receiving a decent wage but also helps in developing their own villages.

Mr. Hemant Kumar, Coordinator, JVSSS welcomed the gathering and Ms Sudharani, Coordinator, JVSSS proposed the vote of thanks.
