Training On Right to Education & Right to Information.

A Workshop on “Right to Education and Right to Information” was conducted at KROSS Resource Centre on 3rd July, 2015.

The 70 participants who had come from all over Karnataka State were welcomed by Rev. Fr. Valerian Sequeira, Education Secretary, Diocese of Karwar.

The first session, Right to Education was facilitated by Rev. Fr. Dr. Eugene Lobo, Secretary, Karnataka Region Commission for Education who explained the RTE Act to the participants and enlightened them on its provision and what are our roles and duties in implementing the act so that no child is denied of education.

The second session, Right to Education was facilitated by Mr. Robinson D’souza, former Law Secretary, Government of Karnataka who asked to be open-minded on the provision of this Act and asked to provide the information if it comes within the ambit of the Act. This was supplemented with additional information on SAKALA (Right to Service) by Mr. Y. G. Muralidhara, Director, Consumer Rights Education & Awareness Trust, Bangalore who educated the participants on the time limit set under this new Act to provide service to the people.

The participants all had a lot of doubts and questions which were clarified and they expressed their satisfaction and said that this workshop was very fruitful to them.
