Review Meeting of Women in Micro Enterprises – 15th & 16th December 2015:

A Review cum Training was arranged for the Diocesan Social Service Society Partners Coordinators & Staff coordinating the program “Women in Micro Enterprise” supported by KROSS subsidiary SAMRUDI Rural Upliftment Foundation on 15th and 16th December 2015 at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director KROSS & SAMRUDI in his address reminded the coordinating staff of the Diocesan Social Service Societies that this programme was meant for alleviation of poverty and it is designed to target rural poverty as the prevalence of the poverty is high in rural areas. The main determinants of poverty are lack of income due to considerable underemployment affecting the quality of life of the people. Hence we have to focus on providing continuous training on Entrepreneurship Awareness & Development to the poor and marginalized women and help them take up income generating activities to come out of the bondage of poverty.

Training on Animal Husbandry was conducted by Mr. Rajshekhar, Retd. Professor, University of Agricultural Science who gave a complete analysis on rearing of Milch Animals and Goat Rearing. He also explained how cattle rearing could be an additional benefit as the people could convert the cow dung to compost and used it in place of buying costly chemical fertilizers.

The participants presented their reports highlighting the achievements and presented case stories of several women who had become good business persons and had substantial earnings through micro enterprises.

Ms Annie Anitha, Manager, SAMRUDI welcomed the participants & moderated the two days session and Mr. Aulappa, Bellary Diocesan Development Society proposed the vote of thanks.
