Seminar On Right To Education, Child Rights & Right To Information.

A seminar on Right to Education, Child Rights & Right to Information was conducted at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore on 11th and 12th February, 2016. Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Bangalore inaugurated the seminar by lighting a lamp.

In his keynote address, he dwelt on the importance of the teacher in fulfilling the rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution so that a child is not deprived of education due to poverty, being vigilant that the rights of the child are secured and the child is protected from all form of abuse. He also emphasized that we own up our responsibility and be accountable and transparent so that we are open for providing any information sought under the Right to Information Act.

The session on Right to Education was facilitated by Dr. Ravi Sagar, Advocate, Gauhati High Court and Dr. Eugene Lobo, Secretary, Karnataka Region Education Commission.

The session on Child Rights was facilitated by Ms Charlet, Program Officer, INSA-India and Dr. Stany D’souza.

The session on Right to Information was facilitated by Mr. Mark D’souza and Fr. Clifford D’souza.

Dr. Eugene Lobo welcomed the Archbishop, the Resource Team and the 78 participants (Education Secretaries, Principals, Head Masters/Mistress, School Administrators, Teachers & NGO Representatives) who had come from all over Karnataka State. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS moderated the two days seminar and Ms Joyce Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
