Workshop On Network, Lobby & Advocacy – 14th June, 2016

KROSS conducted a State level Workshop on Network, Lobby & Advocacy at its Resource Centre, Bangalore on 14.06.2016 in which 61 participants from the state of Karnataka participated. The workshop was facilitated by Sr. Juliet Cutinha, Advocate, Bhadravathi.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS in his keynote address emphasised the need of networking as it is essential to facilitate a platform where the community and civil society organizations can come together to build sustainable partnership through discussion, sharing and collaborate on initiatives and activities. The main principle of lobby & advocacy strategy is to increase the scope of influence on decision makers in order to improve policies that would achieve better conditions for the selected target group

The Resource Person explained how to build up a network to achieve the end result through lobby & advocacy. The methodology could be:
• Peaceful Rally / Joint Strategy
• Influencing / Petitions
• Press Releases / Media Campaign
• Face to face meetings with decision makers
• Personal exchanges over telephone
• Frequent meetings with community and civil society organizations.

Mr. Clement Fernandes, Manager-Programs welcomed the participants and moderated the sessions and Mr. Harishchandra, KDDC, Karwar proposed the vote of thanks.
