Review Meeting of Women in Micro Enterprises – 13th & 14th July 2016.

A Review Meeting on 13th & 14th July 2016 was conducted at KROSS Resource Centre to evaluate the progress of the program “Women in Micro Enterprises” during the last six months followed with a training on Farming Issues & Rain Water Harvesting which was attended by the Diocesan Social Work Coordinators from all over the State of Karnataka.

This program which is intended to reach the poorest of the poor for alleviating poverty must be borne in mind and all efforts should be put in to create awareness and provide skill training so that the poor women belonging to the Self Help Groups are motivated to take up income generating activity to augment their family income and help them lead a life that ensures them two square meals and education for the children said Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS & SAMRUDI in his address to the participants.

Dr. Rajashekar, Program Officer, Natural Resource Management, KROSS clarified the different farming methods that could be adopted, use of organic compost and pesticides and sustainable agriculture with minimum external inputs. He also explained how we could conserve rain water through roof top harvesting which could be used in the summer months for potable use as well as kitchen gardening.

Ms Annie Anitha, Manager, SAMRUDI welcomed the participants & moderated the two days session and Mr. Jagadeesh, SMSSS, Shimoga proposed the vote of thanks.
