Women Empowerment Program In Karnataka – Review Meet Cum Training – 20th To 23rd Sept, 2016.

The Review Meeting of the Women Empowerment Program and Capacity Building Training was conducted at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore from 20th to 23rd September, 2016. The 14 Diocesan Social Service Societies working throughout the State of Karnataka were represented by the District Coordinators and Animators who did a presentation of the work being implemented in their respective dioceses during the period June to August 2016.

While appreciating the efforts put in by the staff of the respective dioceses in implementing the program it was emphasised that we have to put in extra efforts to counsel and take the women into confidence so that any form of abuse or discrimination comes to a close. If women are to be empowered, we must make our people alert to fight against all atrocities on women and work towards the addressing the girl child issues associated to their health, respect, education and nutrition said Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS in his keynote address.

The Capacity Building Training on the topic “Strengthening the Grassroots Federation” & “Tapping of Government Schemes” was provided by Mr. Harishchandra, KDDC, Mr. Jagadeesh, SMSSS and Ms Bhagyamary, CMSSS.

Sr. Nancy Lobo, State Coordinator & Sr. Zita D’souza, Chief Coordinator, Women Empowerment Program evaluated the reports and provided the needed feedback to carry forward the program in keeping with the objectives of the project.

The four days session was well moderated by Mr. Stanley, Sampada, Ms Shobha, BDSSS & Mr. Balaswamy, BDDS. Mr. Chinnappa, BDDS, Ms Manjula, CMSSS & Mr. Venkataramanareddy, BMSSS were part of the welcome team. The program was evaluated and summed up by Mr. Johnson, DKRDS, Mr. Anthony, CODP & Ms Lalitha, ODP.
