KROSS Governing Board Meeting – 16th February 2017

The 1st Governing Board Meeting of the year 2017 was held at Shimoga Multipurpose Social Service Society (SMSSS), Shivamogga on 16th February 2017.

Rev. Fr. Veeresh Moras, Director, SMSSS extended a warm welcome to the Bishop and the members.

Most Rev. Dr. Francis Serrao, Bishop of Shivamogga and President of SMSSS graced the occasion as the meeting was held in his Diocese and addressed the members and shared his own personal experience in field of social service and reminded each one of their role and their responsibility to usher in the needed change in society.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS presided over the meeting and requested all Members to actively participate in the meeting, evaluate the reports being presented and give their valuable feed-back and suggestions which would help the Organization in course correction to make the programs a success.

The KROSS Team presented the reports of the program supported by KROSS which were being implemented by the Diocesan Social Work Societies under the supervision of the concerned program officer. The Board Members raised some issues which were clarified and the advice and feedback of the Board Members was accepted for better implementation of the programs. 

In the afternoon session, Rev. Fr. Veeresh Moras, Director, SMSSS, Shivamogga did a brief presentation of the cooperative bank set up by SMSSS under the banner of “Stree Bandu Bank” owned and independently run by women. He narrated the experience they had undergone in setting up the Bank, the challenges faced and the strategy adopted to overcome the hurdles. The women office bearers and a few women shareholders attended the session and answered queries raised by the members. The members applauded the efforts put in setting up the cooperative bank and wished the women representatives all the best for the future.

The meeting began at 10.00 a.m and concluded at 4.30 p.m. with a vote of thanks by Rev. Fr. Marcel Pinto, Director, CMSSS, Hassan.
