Workshop On Strengthening Panchayatraj Institution:

A State Level Workshop for future could be contestants for Gram Panchayat Elections was held at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore on 10.05.2017 which was attended by 160 participants from all over Karnataka State.

Rev. Fr. Faustine Lobo, National Director, Pontifical Mission Organization, Bangalore inaugurated the Workshop by lighting a Lamp along with representatives of various organizations attending the Workshop.

In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr. Faustine Lobo said that each one of us has inborn leadership talent which comes to the fore at the opportune time as a leader knows the way, shows the way and accompanies along the way. We must all strive to take up responsibility which will happen when we contest the elections at grassroots level and be agents of change.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS, Mr. Maruthi Naik from Honnavar, Mr. Saver Fernandes from Karwar and Advocate Varghese from Bangalore facilitated the day long workshop firstly explaining the salient features of the Gram Panchayat Act, quizzing the participants and answering the queries raised by the participants. The participants very much appreciated the efforts put in by KROSS in conducting this workshop and hoped that many more such workshops could be conducted so that they are kept updated of the newer amendments that are brought in from time to time.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS welcomed the participants and informed them that this a precursor for gearing up for the next Gram Panchayat Election and more such workshops would be conducted at the grassroots level so that they are kept motivated to contest or select appropriate candidates who will work for the people.
