Promotion of Panchayatraj Institutions & Good Governance :

A Workshop for promotion of Panchayatraj Institutions and Good Governance was held at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore on 11th & 12th May, 2017 in which 40 participants from all over Karnataka participated.

In his keynote address, Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS impressed upon the participants why we need good governance today, the tools available which could be utilized to see that the concerned authorities work for the people, what is our role in working towards this goal and gave concrete examples of good governance and how we can own accountability to usher in good governance in our system. 

Mr. Saver Fernandes & Mr. Maruthi Naik who facilitated the two days’ workshop quoted acts, rules and amendments brought in by the Government and how we should use the tools like Right to Information, Citizen’s Charter, Consumer Protection Right, Sakala, etc. to keep the administration on its toes and see that good governance becomes a reality.  They reminded the participants that unless & until they made a genuine effort to attend the Ward & Gram Sabha along with the villagers, we will not be able to usher in the development needed by the people.

The workshop was moderated Mr. Aulappa, BDDS, Bellary. Mr. G. M. Varghese, KROSS, Bangalore welcomed the Resource Persons and the participants and gave a brief introduction on the theme “Need of Good Governance”. Ms Annie Anitha, KROSS, proposed the vote of thanks.
