Training On Gender Mainstreaming

A Training on Gender Mainstreaming was held at KROSS Resource Centre, Bangalore on 28.06.2017 to promote gender mainstreaming as all along we have been working only towards women empowerment and gender equality. The training was attended by 60 participants from all over Karnataka.

Rev. Fr. Sebastian Fernandes, Director, KROSS in his address to the participants said that along with the women empowerment program, we have also been steadily working towards gender equality so that both women and men are provided the same care and concern in the society which is giving us good results by way of cooperation from both the sexes. But he said the question before us today is gender mainstreaming, i.e., making the third gender wanted and accepted in the society. He quoted Pope Francis who had said, “Jesus would not abandon transgender people - hence we must welcome them, be attentive to them, accompany them, discern them, integrate them into the mainstream and not be judgemental about them”.

The Resource Person, Mr. Krishna Murthy explained the factors leading males and females to have a different sexual leaning and said that we have to be compassionate towards them so that we are able to mainstream them in society.

Mr. Clement Fernandes, KROSS welcomed the gathering and moderated the day’s proceedings. Mr. G. M. Varghese, KROSS proposed the vote of thanks.
